Methodology

The Elio Score

A single number from 0–100 that captures how well you're operating right now — what we call Healthspan. It rolls up five pillar scores: Hair, Skin, Weight, Performance and Longevity. Each pillar is also 0–100, built from the data we have for you. The goal isn't a perfect 100, it's a steadily improving baseline.

How a pillar is built

pillar = (wearable_score * 1.0 + Σ(marker_score_i * marker_weight_i))
         / (1.0 + Σ marker_weight_i)

Healthspan = mean(available pillar scores)
  • Wearables anchor every pillar with a fixed weight of 1.0.
  • Each blood marker adds its configured weight on top.
  • No bloods → pillar is the wearable proxy. No wearables → weighted pathology only.
  • Missing pillars are dropped from Healthspan, never zeroed.

Marker score curve

Each marker scores 100 inside its Elio optimal range, then tapers linearly to 0 at the hard bounds, and 0 beyond. Elio's optimal range is tighter than a lab's reference range: the lab range answers "are you sick?", Elio's range answers "is this marker actively supporting the pillar?".

Wearable inputs

  • Sleep score (7-day average), passed through 0–100.
  • HRV (7-day average), normalised 20 → 120 ms.
  • Resting heart rate (7-day average), inverse of normalised 40 → 80 bpm.
  • Steps (7-day average), min(100, steps / 100).
  • Weight stability over 7 days — 100 at sd ≤ 0.3 kg, 0 at sd ≥ 2 kg.

Versioning

Every change to a weight, range or formula bumps SCORE_VERSION. Each row in our derived scores table records the version it was computed under, so historical scores stay comparable.
